Nirmal Raja
A BIOGRAPHY
Nirmal Raja was born in India and has also lived in South Korea and Hong Kong. While in India Raja received a Bachelor’s of Arts in English Literature from St. Francis College in Hyderabad and after moving to the United States, received a Diploma in Graphic Design from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. Raja finds her inspiration in the idea of “home” , exploring the complex relationship between and the dichotomy of East & West. While raising her two children geographically in the West, her life and work confronts what it means to intellectually reside in the East. She continuously strives to make work that connects the individual experience to the universal and be a medium to promote cultural understanding.
Raja earned her Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Painting at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design in 2008.
Currently, Raja lives in Milwaukee with her family and is completing her Master's of Fine Arts in Painting at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
